“Pigs get feed, Hogs get Slaughtered.” I first heard this on Jim Cramer’s TV show which ironically is about stock trading.
This satirical clip “The Good Fight” illustrates a basic truth about our developing priorities as a people. One only has to turn on Fox “News”, listen to the political dialog (of both parties), and look around a bit to be saddened by what is going on. Is this really how we want to spend our limited time here on planet Earth? Instead of continuing a journey that was put on hold as part for “trickle down economics”, we have become a self centered fragmented disposable community of whiners focused on the pursuit of money above all things. Don’t get me wrong. I am not against becoming wonderfully rich. Those of you that know me also know how much I like having (and spending) money. It is part of the American dream that I share and would fight to maintain. But how much is enough? What price are we willing pay so a select few can accumulate wealth well beyond what can be spent in many life times? We need to have another look at our priorities and support people (any way we can) who have the a more worthy goal then just accumulating vast wealth (wealth that cannot/will not be spent). It is my hope that more of us will speak out and, when required to, take action in order to refocus our attention on important human issues. I don’t want to “throw the baby out with the bath water”, but I do believe it is time for us to stop feeding the Hogs!
