#782 Not just bad, face-palm bad (Media)

Another look at how the media, the most important check on governmental power due to it's ability to question power and inform the populace, is terrible. Just fucking terrible.

Mat, I don’t really follow your reasoning that David Pakman pointing out the absurdity of Fox News or any other MSM outlet covering a silly story like the McRib is analogous to Chris Matthew’s trying and failing to make a solid argument to support his correct thesis about racism among Republicans.

I think it’s kind of funny that you ran the clip about Chris Matthews over-reacting to a non-issue and then later played Pakman doing the same thing with the McRib. It’s why I don’t subscribe to Pakman. He does great analysis of important things, but about 20% of each show seems to be filling time with manufactured anger. Dore does it a bit, but he gets a pass insofar as his show is more satire-based where Pakman would purport to be a more serious show.

Just a hiccup in the transition to the new website. I’m working on giving access to the archives. Hold tight.
